Looky, looky, big, very big spider!!! I was told that the Camel Spider really isn’t a spider at all. I don’t know what it is then. I do know that it is big and ugly. One ran over the top of my boot on my way to my sleep tent the other day. If you view it from the top it has ten legs, if you flip it over it has ten more small legs tucked up underneath. I am still trying to get a better picture of one. I have to catch it and get my camera out at the same time.
On a trip to Baghdad I was amazed at how many things reminded me of things in the states, although I think the Euphrates River (Nahr al Furat) is a little larger then the Walla Walla River. Tractors and lots of architectural works of art reminded me of several places. Statues appeared to be in every traffic circle and placed throughout the city. There was a large park in the middle of the city with awesome art around the entrance but there was a big blown up truck blocking the entrance. A fighting position had been built in the middle of the street in front of the entrance. While at the hospital a group of Iraqi men came up to me and wanted their pictures taken.
